Absolute: 97.6 degrees
Otic or Tympanic Time period 10 sec. or less

Degree range is calibrated to rectal or oral
Hypothermia - Low body temperature
Hyperthermia - High body temperature
Pyrexia - High fever
Febrile - High fever
Afebrile - No fever
